The Annaberg Historic Trail showcases the restored ruins on plantation grounds. One would find the photographs and newspaper articles aspect the island’s history in a restored plantation greathouse near Cruz Bay Eaine Lone Sprauve Library and Museum. The Museum also hosts paintings and other artwork created by local artists. Along the Reef Bay Trail in Virgin Islands National Park, one would find petroglyphs created by Arwak Indians.
The Annaberg part of the tour is self-guided, and for other parts of the island tour one would find tour guides. The tour guides would familiarize one with the island’s wildlife and its ancient folklore. The Emmaus Moravian Church, constructed in 1750, is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Scientists are often joined by volunteers at the Cinnamon Bay archaeological dig in their endeavor to unearth half a millennium of ceremonial activity of the Taino islands and Danish plantation ruins. The excavation welcomes volunteers. The Love City loves each of its visitors, and is loved by everyone who visits it. |

St. Thomas
It is home to the famous Virgin Museum, where one can find the history of the island.
The Synagogue of Beracha Veshalom Vegmiluth Hasidim in the Rock City is the oldest synagogue of its kind that is in continuous use in the US. Blackbeard’s Castle on Government Hill is close by, and it looms over Charlotte Amalie. This tower was built in the 17th century, and serves as a popular restaurant and hotel today. The Government House located in the hills near Charlotte Amalie has been the Government’s center since the last 150-odd years. The first two floors of the building would narrate to the politically interested visitor the political life of St. Thomas. The Cathedral Church of All Saints was built in 1848. Thick arched window frames built of stone arches and yellow bricks used to ballast abroad ships add grandeur to the looks. Other places of worship include Frederick Lutheran Church, St. Thomas Reformed Church and St. Thomas synagogue. |
